The UK’s Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) says it has received a delayed report of a tanker being struck while transiting “inbound in the Strait of Hormuz”.
The UKMTO notice says the attack occurred 12 nautical miles (22km) to the north of the Omani port town of Khasab but does not specify when it occurred.
It said authorities are investigating the incident, which did not cause any “casualties or environmental impact”.
